Here's another brilliant release by Brian Ellis. This one consists of just one long, spacey, psychedelic, jazz-funk piece called Rigil Kentaurus, which lasts 21 minutes. It moves through a bunch of different textures and time signatures, all of them utterly unpredictable.

813 - Dusty Bubbles (2011)
Pronounced Eight One Three, this splicey/clubby electronica stands out because there's not one jot of tired space-synth background color-wash, more a concern with just being warm and funky and repeat-listenable. And good and just plain spot-on.

Dj Sesqui & Tah Rei - Setenta Y Dos (2009)
Sand
Misleadingly sandwiched between two live jazz-groove tracks are a bunch of super hip electro-splice space jams and other sonic experiments which at times could be mistaken for The Samps, as posted below. A cool and unusual record.

Brian Ellis - The Silver Creature (2007)
>> Massively righteous electro-funky west coast space jazz enfolded within such free-floating aimlessness as to make any stoner proud to be here now. Lots of slurry, groovy live improve combined with equal amounts studio intervention / production synthesizery. At one point, the whole damn drum kit pans left right left right.

The Samps - The Samps (2010)
I absolutely LOVE this shit. Somehow works with the last post. Splice/fuct sample-funk to enliven your neighborhood.
8 delicious tracks.

Heavy Breathing (2012)
Time to get serious! This will slam you to the wall for an hour and then leave you exhausted on the floor in a pile of other bodies and limbs. So good, in fact, is this heavy rocking electro-prog club pop, that you will return for increasingly larger doses like a white-eyed zombie, knocking over racks of syrupy indie rock CD's on your way to the Heavy Breathing pusherman of Club Tomorrow.KILLMEPLEASE

Clock DVA - Digital Soundtracks (1992)
Crisp-bright robot truth. As far as I know, this was their only instrumental release. Mechanoid! This kicks ass.

Nocturnal Emissions - Spiritflesh (1988)
A masterpiece of early drone/ambient soundscape. A record I have played many times over the years, gaining more of my respect each time I do.

Main - Haloform (1996)
True, the 3 tracks on this Ep are included in the comprehensive 2-disc release Hz, but honestly, I think most people might feel a bit overwhelmed by all that material, and this being the absolute highlight anyway, I thought I'd offer it up as the choice nugget that it is. Ambient electronic intelligence of the highest order.

Thomas Brinkmann - Studio 1 - Variationen (1997)
This first release by Thomas Brinkmann occupies a very extreme position in the world of recorded music. There are no melodies. There is no reverb. There are just a few choice percussive sounds that play in the right channel and are almost exactly mimicked in the left channel, a half second later. That they don't line up perfectly is the essence of the effect, and the imperfections create a strangely soothing sound moiré. I find this record to be very comforting, like a warm, rhythmic groundplate. One of my all-time favorites.

Les Bicyclettes Blanches - Next Door (Margo in the USA) (2011)
Totally under the radar, honest/naive, spacey neo-psych, off-kilter female vocals, really good underground sound. Inspired by NEU!
